James Varney
Retired President
Jim founded Automatic Garage Door Company in 1985. In addition to building the business from the ground up, he oversaw the day-to-day operations of the company. Along with a skilled crew, he established a proud history of providing quality service to the Northeast Ohio community. He officially retired in 2017, however, you might still see him here and there. In his free time, he is an avid golfer and classic car lover.
Jeff Varney
Second Generation President
Jeff lives in Chagrin Falls and started working in the family business part-time in 1994. After graduating from Baldwin Wallace University in 2004, he became a full-time member of the team, and is now owner and President. Jeff offers deep expertise in garage doors and related products and is an expert in service and sales. In his free time, he serves as a youth wrestling coach for his alma mater, Kenston Schools.
Sara Varney
Operations and Marketing
Sara is Jeff’s wife and “officially” joined the team in 2019 after working in Advertising/Communications for 14 years. She has a Bachelor in Business/Marketing from Miami University, Oxford OH, and is responsible for managing our Operations and Marketing. When she’s not in the office, she’s with her and Jeff’s two children, Jeffrey and Layla who certainly keep her on her toes.
Monica
Office Manager
Monica has over 20 years of customer service experience, and previously worked as the executive director of a Symphony Orchestra. Monica brings a diverse background in customer service, management, sales, and marketing. Monica is an alumni of Ashland University where she earned her Bachelor’s in Music and Philosophy, as well as the University of Akron where she earned her Master’s degree in Music. She lives with her husband and rescued pit bull, and in her free time enjoys reading, music, and making jewelry.
Karl
Technician
Karl has been with Automatic Garage Door Company since the beginning. Karl is our resident commercial service and installation expert, and can also capably handle any residential need. In his free time, he loves camping and boating with his wife and children, and working on cars.
Cameron
Technician
Cameron is the newest member of the Automatic Door team, but has 20 years of experience on all things residential door and openers. He is a perfectionist and provides quality service to our customers every time. When he isn’t working, he enjoys home brewing, gardening, and is a hobby machinist.
